WHAT IS THE TR YÖS EXAM?

1. Purpose, Location, Time, and Languages

The TR YÖS (Turkish Exam for Foreign Student Admission) is a mandatory admission requirement organized by YÖK (Turkish Higher Education Council) for international students seeking undergraduate or associate degree education in state universities in Türkiye.

Core Objectives

2. Exam Content and Preparation Support

Exam Content, Structure, and Duration

TR YÖS measures candidates' basic learning skills, and the **exam duration is 80 minutes.**

The **80 questions** in the exam generally consist of: 45 IQ – General Aptitude, 30-32 Mathematics, and 3-5 Geometry questions.

TR YÖS EXAM APPLICATION PROCESS (with ISSA Eduinturkey)

1. Step-by-Step Registration Procedure

Step 1: Pre-Registration

Pre-register for free on our website. (Payment is mandatory for final registration.)

Step 2: Document Preparation and Payment

Prepare your passport, diploma, and photo. Pay the consultancy and exam fee. (Payments are strictly non-refundable.)

Step 3: Official Registration and Preparation

Your registration on the ÖSYM portal is finalized by our expert team, and you are included in the WhatsApp group.

Step 4: Admission Document

The Exam Application Document is received immediately after payment, but the Official Exam Admission Document is delivered to you ~10 days before the exam.

2. Post-Exam Registration at State Universities

WARNING: There is NO centralized placement system. Students must apply separately through each university's own system using their TR YÖS scores.

Important Admission Criteria:

  • For Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy: At least 90% and above success (350+ points) is mandatory.
  • For other programs: A score above 250 is generally sufficient.
  • Students scoring at least 150 points in the TR YÖS exam may still be placed in some programs.

TR YÖS ALTERNATIVES AND NON-EXAM APPLICATION

Alternative International Exams (SAT etc.)

Main Accepted Exams:

  • SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is accepted by many universities.
  • Others: International exams like A-Level, GCSE, ACT, or IB may also be accepted.
  • Prestigious universities like Boğaziçi, ODTÜ, Hacettepe, and Cerrahpaşa accept these International Exams.

Private (Foundation) Universities

No Exam Requirement!

  • Admission Criteria: High school diploma GPA (%60+ expected).
  • Language of Instruction: Generally English.
  • Fast Process: Conditional acceptance letter can be obtained in a maximum of 1 week.

State Admission with Diploma

In Certain Circumstances:

  • During additional placements or when quotas are unfilled, admission may be granted based only on the high school GPA.
  • These programs mostly offer Turkish instruction.
  • HEALTH: Medicine/Dentistry/Pharmacy definitely require an exam result.
