First and Most Important Decisions
Your journey begins with these two fundamental choices.
Choosing Your Department and Language
First, you need to clarify your goals. What department do you want to study in, and what will be your language of instruction? Education in Turkey is generally in Turkish or English. If you are not proficient in the language, you may need to take a one-year preparatory course.
Public or Private?
This is your most critical decision, affecting everything from application requirements to tuition fees. Your choice will completely determine the roadmap of your application process.
Application and Admission Process
Prepare your documents and get one step closer to your acceptance letter.
Preparing the Documents
- High School Diploma
- Transcript of Records
- Passport Photocopy
- Biometric Photo
- Language/Exam Certificate (If any)
Very Important Rule: Sworn Translation!
All your official documents (diploma, transcript) must be translated into Turkish or English by a sworn translator.
Application and Acceptance Letters
-
Submitting the Application
Your documents are sent to the university and reviewed.
-
Conditional Acceptance Letter
The university informs you of the registration requirements and the deposit amount.
-
Deposit Payment
A down payment is made to secure your spot.
-
Final Acceptance Letter
This is the most important and necessary official document for your visa application. You must pay the deposit to receive the final acceptance letter.
Official Procedures and the Final Hurdle
Finalize your registration and prepare for the visa application.
Securing Your Spot
Deposit Fee and Financial Risk
The deposit ($500-$1000) is deducted from the first-year tuition fee. In case of a visa rejection, most universities do not offer a refund. You must check the refund policy from the acceptance letters before applying. Also, ask the Agency about universities that do offer refunds.
Diploma Equivalency Certificate
This is mandatory for your high school diploma to be recognized in Turkey. You can obtain it from the Turkish Consulate in your country or after arriving in Turkey.
Visa Application
This process is entirely your responsibility and poses the biggest risk. It is crucial to apply 1-2 months in advance.
The Most Important Tip!
You must convince the consulate that your sole purpose for coming to Turkey is education. Be clear and sincere about your intentions.
